  Dear White's,

I've been metal detecting off and on since 1981. I've made some interesting finds with my first machine, which was a 1db and found an 1884 Morgan at a local church hall, and I still have it for my back up detector.

But since then I've purchased two more machines, on is the Trooper and the other was a Surfmaster, all White's machines. I love them and still use them. One of the best places I've gone to is a lake that has been drained because of a break in the dam. It has uncovered about 75-100' of shoreline.

I spent one whole summer concentrating in two areas, one was an old beach area, and the other was a boat launch area. The beach area turned up a walking Liberty half, a silver flight/pilot ring, several Indian head pennies, a few mercs and buffalo nickels.

After feeling as though I cleaned everything out of there, I went over to the boat launch. There I found a Seated Liberty half, a barber half, and a Franklin half, with various other coins and small items. The interesting part was when I detected between the two spots.

I started finding mini balls, cannon shot with a chain linking the two balls, a civil war bayonet, and a couple of uniform buttons. Even though I feel as though I found everything, I'm sure I haven't. I've let a friend with a DFX know where we'll be heading when the weather gets better for detecting. I'm sure he'll be able to pull a few more good things out until I get my next machine.
