Metal Detector Used: Spectra Series (800-0319)

   Dear White's,

I am so happy with my Spectra V3!!! My husband has had several metal detectors (of another brand) over the last several years but I had never had one. I recently became interested in the hobby and asked to try his machine. I did not care for it. He told me to look on the internet and find one that I liked. Well, the Spectra V3 sounded perfect even to a novice like me. After I convince him that I would not become discouraged if I didn't immediately find piles of jewelry and coins, I ordered it. This was in October of 2009. I made up test cards and practiced in my front yard, watched the video, and followed the forum inputs. Now, I was ready to test it in the "real world" - the city park.

OK, using the 10" stock coil that came with it and the stock program "coins and jewelry", I was ready. The first two holes turned up pull tabs. That's ok, I expected that. But the third hit yielded something unexpected...something I didn't dare dream about. A 14k gold 6mm man's wedding band at about 21/2 inches!!!!! This even impressed my husband as he has never found gold.

I have since bought the 6x10" coil and tweaked the settings and am finding more each trip. I've added two more rings to my collection.. a Silver plated slightly bent one, and a pretty silver colored band with a center stone, about a carat wt., and four smaller ones on each side. I have not had this checked to see if it is real, but real or not it is beautiful and I love it. I have also found miscellaneous coins, toys, other jewelry, and a neat mermaid key chain penknife.

This V3 is a tremendous machine! If a newbie like me can find gold on the first trip out, what can the future hold? Whatever is out there, I am ready. I have become a dedicated detectorist and White's fan.
