       Dear White's Electronics

On Saturday 10-9-10, I decided to detect the grassy strip between the road and sidewalk in front of my house. Old photos show a dirt street with horses tied to hitching posts. I was hoping someone had dropped a silver coin or two along the route back in the day.

My first hit was an 1898 Indian penny- VDI 60-61 at about 4 inches. When I re-checked the hole I got another reading VDI 48-50, this was always a bottle cap before now. Since I was already there I went ahead and dug it. Instead of the usual bottle cap, out popped a 1915 $5 gold coin.

I think everyone on the block has seen it now and all have told me I could detect their yards as well. So all in all, a perfect fall day, my first gold coin and only 150 feet from my front porch.
