White's Electronics,

Having started this hobby in March 2011, I consider myself a 65 year old rookie and never imagined I would have this much luck (and fun) in such a short time. I have found many quality finds since March but none can top my October 22, 2011 hunt.

Invited by two dedicated hobbyists (Dan and George) we hunted an old hole here in Connecticut. My weapon of choice was a MXT Pro equipped with a 5.3 Eclipse coil. I started in the back of the hole and headed toward a stone wall I could see in a distance. As I approached the wall, there was a large, flat rock different from the rest. As I crossed, I could see another square rock placed in front of the large rock and a 5” opening between the two.

I swung my 5.3 coil over the opening and the MXT Pro was singing that sweet song. I removed 11 coins, in very poor condition from under that rock but had no idea what I had found.

As Dan came into view I gave him a yell and he headed over. I placed the coins on the wall and Dan picked one up to inspect. It only took Dan a matter of seconds to say, “I think you just found yourself a cache of 8 Reale counterfeit coins here “. To say I was thrilled would be an understatement.

When I got home and cleaned them the best I could see is the 1807 date on a few.
