Dear White's,

My two friends and I were detecting on an old Indian trail in central Pennsylvania using our White's MXT’s. We have done a lot of researcher on this area and new there were quite a few troops that walked this trail many years ago.

We were detecting along a dried up creek bed when I got a 76 VDI hit. It was not a real strong tone but it was 10 1/2 inches deep. I almost walked away from it but decided I better dig it. I dug down about 7 inches and decided to swing over the hole again and that 76 VDI came through nice and strong.

I continued to dig and finally got to what was in the bottom of the hole. When I pulled it out and cleaned it up I realized it was a belt plate. After some research I found out it was an 1864 NY militia officer’s belt plate. This is one of the most amazing finds I have had and it was found with the best detector on the market the White's MXT. I love detecting with it.
