Greetings from Slovakia,

Most of You would agree that it has its specific charm to find something really unexpected. And then track down its story that's marvelous feeling!

Therefore this tiny silver hammered coin is one of my most favorite finds! I was hunting in the woods above my home town. Using my old DFX, mixed mode and large DD coil it has been real surprise to dig up so tiny coin. Check out the photo!

Even bigger surprise it prepared to me at home... After some soft cleaning the basic question arose up: "What the heck is this?" ;) I have never seen coin like this before. I could not decipher the description and find out any information. So I contacted National numismatic association and the professionals didn't fail. The coin is Ottoman Empire "akche". That's great but Ottoman Empire in the middle Europe? Well, let's study some books and archives! And here we are - in summer 1663 Ottoman (Turkish) troops assaulted and raided my town! They destroyed and took away everything they could but they lost something too ;) In fact I could even find out the exact date when the coin was (probably) lost! Very interesting feeling to hold on such a piece of my own history.

Take care!
