Item Found: Relic

Location: Virginia

Metal Detector Used: M-Series (800-0308)

June 1st, 2009

Howdy,

I'm a relic hunter in the Northern Virginia area. I've fairly recently converted to the MXT as my primary machine due to heavy iron concentrations in the soil of many local sites. Thought you might be interested in some recent finds.

The Union Drummer boy's plate (drumstick holder) was found during a recent Diggin in Virginia event at Brandy Station. First complete plate of this type I've found.

Confederate spur was found locally in Loudoun County at a site that saw use by both Confederate and Union forces. This was found right in the mulch layer and I was fortunate enough to find the buckle for the boot strap.

Final picture is US breastplate also found locally in Loudoun County at old house site near a Union camp. This was among a lot of iron trash but rang out really clear.

Enjoying the MXT and still looking for that virgin Confederate camp.

Sincerely,
Cory R.
