Smugglers Cove and the surrounding area have been inhabited by Explorers/Indians since the 1700's. I have been there in the past and found some interesting items.

Since it Snows in Colorado I made a trip back in January where it is Semi-Warm compared to Snow/Ice/Wind that winter blesses us with here. Once again I gained permission from the current land caretaker and off I went the next morning.

I had been doing research on the area and located where I needed to start "Kickin the Dirt". The 1st day rain hampered my search in the first hour, along with my camping. The next day, I was off again. Quite a hike back in and I was glad that it had rained.

The ground being so hard, the moisture was a welcome condition. Kinda hard to believe, but normally my first find of the day is my Best. Well the luck was with me again!! I pulled an 1854 Seated Half Dime at about 3". (Photo Enclosed) I was so excited I did the Happy Dance.

I haven't done the dance in along time!! My dance includes throwing my fists in the air and yelling Woo Hoo. Quite the sight to people around me that don't understand, when I'm in a public place.

The rest of the day was pretty much a Bust. Luck being with me, that was the Best find of the day with my DFX. I had to dip it, to clean it up. I'm aware of what the process does, but I don't intend to sell it. It is the oldest coin I have found. Sitting around the campfire that evening, I thought to myself........Life doesn't get any better than this..........

Thanks White's "MIKE"
