Ground Hawg Shovel

Some sites like parks, yards, and other manicured lawns require a “light touch” when digging. If you stick to these kinds of areas, please see our DigMaster digger. For hardcore hunters who need a hefty shovel we’ve developed the GROUND HAWG.

This heavy duty digger does double time on roots, clay, rocks, and other challenging conditions. Twin serrated edges tear through the toughest earth, and the wide blade makes digging larger plugs easy without damaging your target. The extended length also means you don’t need to stoop to dig.

The blade on the GROUND HAWG is specifically designed for the perfect plug – with 3 cuts you have a 6″ wide and 7″ deep cube. Shallow targets (under 7″) show up in the plug, while deeper targets (over 7″) will still be in the hole… but should be within reach of your TRX pinpointer or trusty DigMaster if further excavation is required. Includes protective sheath.

Overall length – 36″

Blade length – 7.5″

Blade width – 5.5″

Weight – 2.85 lbs

CAUTION: This shovel is sharp, and can inflict serious bodily harm if misused. Please check local ordinances to see if you need a permit for such a destructive implement.

Upon receiving this shovel for review I attempted to tear open the box. My weak arms struggled with the packaging… Luckily my wife was able to assist me. Then I saw it. Shiny and orange, with a heavy serrated blade. Immediately my chest swelled.

I grabbed the Ground Hawg shovel and MX Sport and hit a local field. With each plug I gained muscle mass and my testosterone level increased. The shovel cut through the ground like a 427 Big Block running on AV Gas. A pack of feral dogs cowered at the sight of the mighty blade, scurrying with their tales held low. Minelab and Garrett users gasped in shock at my powerful, full-body digging thrusts… Was it fear or respect?

As I walked home with my finds I noticed my normally smooth face had – in hours – sprouted a thick, lustrous beard. Veins bulged on my arms and I felt a new bounce in my step.

This shovel had the power to make a man out of me. It can do the same for you.

This is a great shovel. Slices easily into the ground and ended up with nice plugs that are easy to place back in the hole like I was never there.
I took it to areas with nice soil, clay and rough digging. All were no challenge for the ground hog. This shovel is a real beast.
Thank you white’s. You’re always outstanding.
It is also apparently lucky. The very first hole with it was an old toy tractor trailer truck.

A great tool for any detectorist. After using this for a couple weeks I can say that it’s very well built. It is sharp on the tips of the serrations. Wouldn’t hurt to put a little extra time to make the flat bevel a little sharper. Great product and price.

The DigMaster Digger is an excellent knife worth 5 stars. The sheath needed some engineering to stiffen it and reinforce the seam. The service department was right on top of the sheath replacement. Kudos. On the old sheath I used a hacksaw blade to stiffen and stainless safety wire for the seam which has worked great. I don’t think I will use the replacement but have as a backup. Overall 4 stars due to sheath.
