I am struggling with zeroing in on the functionality. I had a XLT for 15 years and knew it like the back of my hand. I can see how the machine could be 5 stars, but I need some help with my false targets, i.e. shows up silver/clad 83-87 and comes up a rusty old nail….HELP ANYONE!

It takes some time to learn to learn but it’s pays off. Lately I found a 1911 v nickel at 5”in the ground. I love it!

    Hello White’s staff.
Thank you for this great detector.
After swinging long time White’s detectors I got a great deal on a VX3 and WOW, that really is a MXT on steroids. Very easy to adjust to your needs but also gives success with it’s programs right out of the box.
Having most of the White’s accessory coils for the MXT and DFX this detector fits the range perfectly and I really like the use of the SpectraSound Wireless Headphones.
I know, many swear by the V3i, but I like it simple better.
In my opinion the VX3 is the switch on and go version in the Spectra line, very easy to use like an MXT, but gives you tons of information about the target.
Using this machine for 14 days now and I really, really like it.
You did an outstanding job on this.
    Thank you very much.

I’ve had mine for eight years now. I’d estimate I’ve got around 4,000 hours on the machine (we detect a lot). I couldn’t begin to estimate how many times I’ve powered it on and off, pushed the different menu buttons or pulled the pin point trigger. I can not recall one single time the machine has not functioned flawlessly.
I’m not overly abusive with the my stuff, but it’s had a few mishaps over the years. It has slid and fallen when leaning against something countless times. I’ve used it in dusty fields where I’ve had to wipe the screen to see it. I’ve had to occasionally toss it when crossing a ditch, etc.. The machine honestly still looks new. The shaft connections are rock solid. I have two coils and after 100’s of swaps I’m still using the factory plastic screw. The only things that’s failed have been the arm cuff pad and Velcro band. I’ve replaced them twice now, and I’m getting about 1,000 hours out of them.
It has a learning curve if you have a general knowledge of metal detecting. It would have a sharp learning curve if you are a beginner. I bought mine as a novice. It took me quite a while before it “clicked”. During that time I got frustrated with it and actually hated the machine. I never gave up on it, but I did buy and try other machines, thinking maybe me and the VX3 weren’t a good match. Then one day the light bulb lit and the audio and visual finally came together and made sense. Now I never dig trash, unless I’m just curious or testing the machine, and the machine has never been wrong. If it “tells” you it’s trash, trust the machine. Even though it might sound good, if it doesn’t look good, or vice versa let it lay. I think that was my hardest obstacle to overcome.
I’ve given away or sold all of my other detectors except my Minelab Equinox, and only because it’s waterproof. If your looking for a metal detector that will out perform all others, in my opinion this one will. BUT remember, this is not an out of the box detector so don’t get frustrated! It will “click” one day and I promise it will produce results!
